Micah Parsons trade request: CeeDee Lamb reacts to bombshell move by Dallas Cowboys teammate

Mere minutes after Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons shocked the NFL world by publicly requesting a trade out of Dallas, teammate CeeDee Lamb has reacted on both Instagram and X/Twitter. Lamb and Parsons have been teammates since 2021.
The trade request comes after contract negotiations between Parsons and the Cowboys reached an impasse. The Athletic‘s Diana Russini is however reporting that Dallas has ‘no intention’ of honoring Parsons’ trade request at this time.
“Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here,” Parsons wrote on Twitter/X Friday afternoon. “I no longer want to be held to closed door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.”
Since entering the NFL via the 2021 Draft out of Penn State, Parsons has evolved into one of the best defensive players in the league. Over his four years with the Cowboys, Parsons has been named a two-time First Team All-Pro, a one-time Second Team All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler. However, he heads into the 2025 season on the final year of his rookie contract.
Parsons claims that Dallas won’t speak with agent about contract
Standout defensive players around the league, such as New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt, have received lucrative contracts in recent weeks. However, Parsons remains unsigned and now wants to continue his NFL journey elsewhere.

“Up to today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract,” Parsons continued. “Not one demand has been made by my agent about money, years or anything else. Still, I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”
Lamb commented on the contract dispute last week, revealing that he was hoping his teammate would get paid soon. The former Oklahoma wide receiver signed four-year, $136 million contract extension with the Cowboys prior to the 2024 season.
“Obviously playing this media game with Jerry [Jones] is not the best,” Lamb said via The Athletic‘s Jon Machota last week. “It’s not fun. It’s not recommended. (Micah) knows what he brings to the table. He should get what he deserves. I’m not indulging in any of the craziness that they got going, but I do want Micah to get paid, soon.”
Dallas, whether Parsons does or doesn’t suit up, opens the 2025 NFL season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sep. 4. The game will kick at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
