Micah Parsons trade request: Dak Prescott weighs in on Cowboys saga, possibility of deal

Just over a year ago, Dak Prescott was in a similar situation to Micah Parsons. While the Dallas Cowboys quarterback never requested a trade, he was also looking for a contract extension. A deal eventually got done right before Week 1 kickoff against the Cleveland Browns.
As of now, nobody knows if Parsons will be in Dallas moving forward. However, Prescott is confident something will get worked out. Going through the experience, personally, and watching a few other teammates deal with the Cowboys makes him believe.
“No, not necessarily,” Prescott said when asked if he’s thought about Parsons playing elsewhere. “I think if I wouldn’t have been in his shoes, and watched other guys be in his shoes and get rewarded, maybe. But I’ve got faith in the Joneses and the team as I do in Micah and his team. 11 is a Cowboy.”
Stephen Jones recently said the Cowboys do not “drag out” contract negotiations. However, these storylines have become popular in the recent years. Prescott’s situation shared the spotlight with CeeDee Lamb, if not even more attention placed on the wide receiver due to his holdout. The year before, right guard Zack Martin did not get a deal done until mid-August.
Tone from Jerry Jones has changed as well. Throughout the Lamb saga, Jones continually stated there was no urgency to get something worked out. Now dealing with Parsons, he recently claimed, “I’m always urgent.”

Thus far, Jones has not stayed true to his word. Reports indicate that not too much conversation has gone on between him and Parsons. Jones has repeatedly gone out of his way to avoid working with Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta. From start to finish, a bizarre scenario has unfolded in front of our eyes.
And at the same time, the first training camp of head coach Brian Schottenheimer is ongoing. Everyone in Oxnard is working toward an incredibly important regular season.
Dallas will be in the national spotlight for its opener. They head up to Philadelphia on Sept. 4, being the first game of the NFL season. The Eagles will have a special pregame ceremony, watching a new banner drop inside Lincoln Financial Field.
Parsons and his status will be a major storyline going in. Maybe the Cowboys will pull off something similar as they did with Prescott, announcing a deal during pregame warmups. Either way, Prescott appears confident something will get completed.
