Michael Irvin blames David Mulugheta for Dallas Cowboys trading Micah Parsons to Packers: 'You blew your job'

As with any contract extension in the NFL, the agent of Micah Parsons was heavily involved. This specific scenario possibly had David Mulugheta out in public more than others, though. Mulugheta was continually brought up throughout the process by Parsons and Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones.
Days after Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers, Cowboys legend Michael Irvin called out Mulugheta. Obviously, Irvin wanted Parsons to stay in Dallas and until the trade, was confident something would get worked out. But Irvin believes Mulugheta “blew” what his ultimate job was.
“The agent, who does a great job went on our boy’s show yesterday, Stephen A,” Irvin said. “He said ‘Micah wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy.’ Then your next statement is null and void, then. Everything else. Because your job, you blew your job. I don’t want to hear you tell me ‘I raised the number by $5 million. That’s new money, new year’ … when you could have worked out a deal where Micah is taking home more money.
“You could have worked out a deal and they should have put their egos aside and gotten that deal worked out. The No. 1 thing he said was ‘Micah wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy.’ That’s your job. To go get the most money from the Dallas Cowboys. That is your job and they failed that.”

Parsons will play out his fifth-year option with the Packers, something the Cowboys reportedly attempted to do before dealing him. However, four more seasons will follow. A nice payday is heading to Parsons as the contract totals out to $186 million and $136 million guaranteed. The title of highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL also belongs to Parsons.
Most agents out there would tell you they did a great job. Sure, Parsons had to move teams but a new precedent was set after a massive contract. Irvin disagrees and believes Mulugheta should have worked to get Parsons the best possible deal with the Cowboys.
With how invested Irvin appeared to be in the situation, Week 4 should wind up being a tough one for him. Parsons makes his first trip to AT&T Stadium as a member of an opposing team. Any game between Dallas and Green Bay is a big one but this matchup will have massive implications on the line. And Irvin just wished Parsons still had a star on his helmet.
