LOOK: Mike Evans and Quandre Diggs share excitement about playing in Germany this season

The NFL announced that the Seahawks and the Buccaneers will play in Germany this season, to the joy of Mike Evans and Quandre Diggs. In a graphic shared by the NFL, Diggs and Evans were each featured in front of Allianz Arena — the home of FC Bayern Munich. The game will not only be the first regular season NFL game played in Germany, it will be the first major non-soccer event held in Allianz Arena.

The Seahwaks and Buccaneers are set to play in Munich, Germany on Nov. 13, kicking off early at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Diggs responded to the NFL’s announcement featuring him and Evans, replying to the graphic and tagging Evans in his excited response.

“Yo! [Mike Evans] this dope Brodie!”

Evans didn’t take long to respond, highlighting the career trajectory of both players who used to battle each other in Texas as part of the same 2011 recruiting class.

“From competing against each other in Galveston and Angleton Texas to Germany wow. Much love bro, let’s keep going.”

Evans’ reference to Galveston and Angleton is showing where the pair began their football careers, as Evans played at Ball High School in Galveston and Diggs played at Angleton High School in Angleton. From there, they continued to be rivals in Texas as Evans went to the Aggies and Diggs joined the Longhorns.

Diggs played all four seasons of his college career from 2011-14 at Texas before being drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Evans played just two years at Texas A&M in 2012 and 2013, heading to the NFL in the 2014 NFL Draft with the seventh-overall pick to Tampa Bay. Now the stars from Texas schools have a chance to showcase their skills in front of German fans in one of the most well-known arenas in Europe.

Diggs may have a slight advantage on gameday however, as the Seahawks are the second most popular team in Germany according to NFL data. The Sea Hawkers’ German chapter of the Seahawks fandom that features more than 10 percent of the Sea Hawkers booster club worldwide. Seattle played in London as part of the NFL’s European outreach plan just four years ago, and an estimated 200-300 members of the German Sea Hawkers were in attendance for the game.
