Mike Tomlin hits iconic Aaron Rodgers celebration after Steelers QB's first rushing TD in years

Before Sunday, it had been a long time since we saw Aaron Rodgers hit the “Discount Double Check.” To see that, it requires Rodgers to rush into the end zone for a touchdown.

In the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback did just that. And after crossing the goal line, he pulled out the Discount Double Check celebration.

Rodgers wasn’t alone. His coach, Mike Tomlin, did a version of it as well on the sideline.

Aaron Rodgers, Steelers off to hot start in Baltimore

Rodgers turned 42 earlier this week. With his rushing score against the Ravens, he became the oldest player in Steelers history to score a touchdown. He also surpassed Jerry Rice [41 years old in 2003] as the oldest player to ever score a touchdown against the Ravens, per NFL senior researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming.

The vibes are high for Pittsburgh after a week in which much of the conversation was centered around Tomlin and his future with the franchise. Fans inside Acrisure Stadium chanted “Fire Tomlin” during last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Former Steelers players such as James Harrison and Ben Roethlisberger suggested it might be time for a change.

Amid all the noise, here are the Steelers — leading 10-3 in Baltimore with first place in the AFC North on the line. All of a sudden, the passing attack is working. Rodgers has completed 13-of-19 passes for 148 yards at the time of writing, while wide receiver DK Metcalf has four receptions for 92 yards.

There’s a long way to go in Baltimore. However, this has been the start Pittsburgh desperately needed. We’ll see if it holds over the next two hours of play.
