Mike Tyson to face Floyd Mayweather in exhibition boxing match

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are getting ready to battle in the ring next year. According to Michael J. Babcock of TMZ Sports, the boxing legends will take part in an exhibition boxing match in the spring of 2026. Babcock said Tyson and Mayweather have already signed their contracts.

The fight is being put together by CSI Sports/Fight Sports. An exact date has not been finalized, but Mike Tyson said he’s excited about getting into the ring to take on Floyd Mayweather.

“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen,” Tyson told TMZ. “However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.”

“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this,” he added. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

Mayweather said he’s ready to give fans a show. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather said. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Looking at Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather’s boxing careers

Tyson and Mayweather have competed in exhibition matches over the last few years, but Tyson’s last real match was in November. The former heavyweight champion lost to Jake Paul, and 108 million people watched the match on Netflix. Mayweather battled Jake Paul’s brother, Logan, in an exhibition bout in June 2021. His last exhibition match was in August of last year, and he took on John Gotti III.

Tyson is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. The 59-year-old was the undisputed heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990 and won his first 37 matches before losing to Buster Douglas in February of 1990.

Mayweather won 15 major world championships in five different weight classes. He finished his boxing career with a 50-0 record and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2021.
