Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson is undergoing an MRI on Monday following his team’s fourth loss of the season on Sunday. The wide receiver exited the 27-20 loss against the Chiefs with what appeared to be a hamstring injury after making an awkward cut and slipping on the field.

Following the game, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed that Jefferson suffered a hamstring injury, adding that “it’s too early to tell how much that will impact him,” per the Vikings Twitter account.

Jefferson has already established himself as one of the greatest receivers in NFL history. At every turn, he’s shattered numerous records and milestones during his first few years in the league.

Jefferson recently eclipsed 5,000 receiving yards in just 52 games, tying Hall of Famer Lance Alworth for the fewest games needed in NFL history. There are now only two players in NFL history to clear 5,000 receiving yards before the age of 25Randy Moss and Justin Jefferson.

Losing Jefferson for any amount of time would be incredibly bad news for the Vikings. Minnesota is now 1-4 on the year and facing the possibility of playing without their leading receiver of the past three seasons.

In 2022, the former LSU star had a career-high 1,809 receiving yards with eight touchdowns on 128 catches. So far this season, Jefferson has 36 catches, 571 yards and three touchdowns.

Travis Kelce plays through ankle injury in win over Vikings

The Vikings weren’t the only ones with a scary injury on Sunday. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce exited the game on Sunday after suffering an apparent ankle injury.

However, unlike Jefferson, Kelce was cleared to return to the game. He departed the contest with just over a minute to play in the first half.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that medical staff believed Kelce suffered a high ankle sprain in the game. While he’ll likely get further evaluation after the game, he was given the nod to return.

Entering Sunday’s game against Minnesota, the tight end was responsible for 17 catches for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

After the injury, he came back and snagged 10 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Although he made several great plays, Kelce wasn’t as much of a focus on Sunday as he has been over the past two weeks. His rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift was not in attendance for the victory in Minneapolis.
