This is something you don’t see every day. As NASCAR gets ready for the Chicago Street Race, the haulers have arrived. Seeing the Cup Series haulers coming down DuSable Lake Shore Drive is an unreal sight, even in year three.

In the last few years, there have been a few “wow” moments that NASCAR has produced. A lot of it, I think, has to do with having these massive, colorful haulers being in places you would least expect them to be.

Seeing haulers at places like Mexico City, LA Coliseum, Bowman Gray Stadium, and North Wilkesboro in recent years has been remarkable. Watching them enter the streets of Chicago is perhaps the coolest of these moments. Even in year three, it is almost surreal to see.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports caught the parade of haulers. And yes, it is raining today in Chicago. There is a chance of rain on Sunday as well. So, we’ll see how this plays out.

The one thing NASCAR fans want to see for the Chicago Street Race is a dry day. Rain has been the major factor in each of the last two seasons. In what could be the final edition of this race, having decent weather is the least these fans and teams and drivers deserve.

With the haulers making their way to town, things are about to begin. All of the action is confined to Saturday and Sunday. It is another exciting weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series. The Xfinity Series might be the best race of the weekend anywhere in the world, if you ask me. Especially if Saturday is dry, like it appears it will be.

NASCAR Chicago Street Race enters third year

The Chicago Street Race has been part of the NASCAR schedule for three years now. It has been a success from a marketing and, honestly, entertainment standpoint. Not to mention, the first edition of this race in 2023 led to Shane van Gisbergen taking a full-time role in the Cup Series.

Chicago has also opened up the door for future street races. San Diego is the city that has been named in recent weeks as the next destination for NASCAR. However, it is a concept that can be taken anywhere.

As NASCAR continues to modernize the sport, street racing is likely here to stay. Perhaps not multiple races each year, but one a year could be the perfect balance. Throw that in with three to four other road courses and the schedule looks nice and well-rounded.

Everyone will be watching the weather. The NASCAR Chicago Street Race is almost ready to get underway. Fourth of July weekend in the Windy City, what could be better?
