NASCAR Cup champion Joey Logano pulls up in No. 22 car, does burnout for Clemson Football

NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano visited the Clemson Tigers Football team on Tuesday, and the players were fired up. Clemson shared a video on its X/Twitter page that showed Logano arriving at the team facility and doing a burnout in his No. 22 car.

When Logano got out of his car, the players began chanting, “Joey! Joey! Joey!” And in the caption, Clemson wrote, “Always great to have another champion in the building.”

It’s not clear why Logano was in Clemson, South Carolina, but the NASCAR star and the football team have one big thing in common. Logano is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, and Clemson has won the national title three times.

The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is winding down, and Logano has clinched a playoff spot. The 2025 college football season will kick off this weekend, and Clemson is one of the favorites to win another national championship.

Before the start of the 2025 season, Joey Logano talked about his chances of winning another Cup Series title. “Well, I mean ,the bottom line is that the goal never changes. The goal is to win the championship, whether you won last year or not,” Logano said in February. “But the big thing is just fighting complacency and being OK with what happened.

“You’ve got to remember what you did last year will not be good enough to win this year. So just always constantly looking for improvement and keeping everybody on their game, right, because that’s over. As great as that moment was — and it’s fun to watch it, believe me, it’s really fun just to watch that — it’s over and we’ve got to do it all again. The scoreboards reset back to zero.”

Clemson finished the 2024 season with a 10-4 record and won the ACC Championship. The Tigers qualified for the College Football Playoff but lost to Texas in the first round. Clemson won its national titles in 1981, 2016 and 2018, and has collected 22 ACC titles.

College football analyst Josh Pate predicted the 2025 College Football Playoff bracket and has Clemson as the No. 5 seed. He believes that the Tigers will play Boise State in the first round, and the winner will take on No. 4 Oregon.
