NASCAR fines Xfinity Series driver Kyle Weatherman $25,000 for Portland pit road incident

NASCAR has handed down penalties stemming from Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway, tagging Kyle Weatherman with a $25,000 fine.
Weatherman was fined for a violation of NASCAR’s code of conduct when he made contact with another vehicle on pit road after the race.
According to the rulebook, intentionally damaging another vehicle on pit road is one of several actions that can result in the loss of 25-50 driver and/or team owner points and/or fines of $25,000-50,000. So Weatherman’s penalty certainly could have been even stiffer.
Weatherman finished in 25th place on the 1.967-mile road course.
Early season dust-up pitted Kyle Weatherman vs. JJ Yeley’s team
This isn’t the first time this season that Weatherman’s name has been connected to the NASCAR penalty report, though in a previous instance Weatherman was the victim of someone else breaking the code of conduct.
Following a race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in late February, the RAPTOR King of Tough 250, Weatherman got into it with JJ Yeley‘s crew.

In fact, after the race, Yeley’s crew chief Jason Miller was suspended for two races by NASCAR for going after Weatherman. Miller shoved Weatherman up against his car.
Miller exclaimed the warning, “Next time you touch my racecar!” as he pulled away.
Suffice it to say, there’s been plenty of drama for Weatherman this season. Unfortunately for Weatherman, he hasn’t always had the best results this season. His best finish on the year was an eighth-place finish at Dover Motor Speedway.
Weatherman currently sits in 22nd place in the Xfinity Series standings, having accumulated 188 points so far this season. Weatherman has recorded just one top-10 finish, while he has four DNFs so far this season. He has yet to lead a lap and has not produced any stage wins.
