NASCAR insider spills 'tea' on surprising Michael Jordan, Denny Hamlin 23XI financial details

It isn’t just NASCAR who has financial information in the public now. Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin do as well. 23XI Racing has had their finances released as exhibits in the ongoing antitrust lawsuit. An interesting deal has allowed 23XI to grow in the last few years.
With how quickly 23XI Racing has grown from birth to now, it has required millions of dollars of investment. That includes the AirSpeed shop, the cars, the personnel, charters, and everything else that goes into making a NASCAR Cup Series team happen.
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports pored over the documents released. He noted a few interesting things about how Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin have set up their financial relationship at 23XI Racing.
“Some Jordan-23XI financial tea from emails/depositions,” Pockrass wrote on social media. “MJ said he’d pay 60% for SHR charter; Denny would pay 40%. Denny and Jordan went 50-50 on 23XI real estate (Airspeed) and MJ front Denny the $, with DH paying him back monthly. MJ has loaned the eam money for legal fees.”
While it might be a little embarrassing or uncouth to have your finances put out publicly, is this that surprising? Perhaps to some. But for Michael Jordan, a man worth almost $4 billion, this isn’t that big of a stretch. Online estimates put Denny Hamlin’s net worth at a fraction of that, somewhere around $65 million. About 1.6% of Jordan’s net worth.

What it shows is that 23XI Racing has spent a ton of money to get started. That’s not a bad thing. We have seen in racing that money can’t buy wins, but frugality doesn’t get you there, either. A fine line exists between spending for speed and spending for vanity.
Michael Jordan, 23XI Racing finances put out in public
It is not only NASCAR that has dirty laundry out for everyone to see. The teams, 23XI and Front Row, are involved in this as well. They have to put up just as much information to show how they have been able to run their businesses in the midst of the alleged illegal conduct.
You can pore over the details of the teams’ expenses below. There is also a list of the charter sales history that shows just how expensive the charters have become in recent years.
23XI Racing and Michael Jordan are going to take this to trial. It feels like a settlement is impossible at this point. Too much is out, too many personal attacks are now public, and the money is now on the table. And we know how MJ acts when the money is on the table.
