NASCAR legend Jack Roush victim of crime spree involving stolen trucks

Federal agents have busted a tech-savvy crew accused of stealing high-performance cars and trucks in Metro Detroit, two of which were stolen from NASCAR Hall of Famer Jack Roush, per a report from Robert Snell of The Detroit News.
Court files revealed a years-long FBI probe across the Midwest and South that led to a garage in Milwaukee. Agents went to Milwaukee searching for several stolen vehicles, including a Ford F-150 and another Ford truck stolen from Roush Enterprises in Livonia, Michigan, which was founded by the RFK Racing co-owner.
“The vehicles were taken by individuals wearing ski masks who had exited a black SUV,” FBI Special Agent Shane Hoffmann wrote in an unsealed FBI search warrant affidavit, via Snell.
Investigators locate one of Jack Roush’s stolen trucks
In March 2022, investigators launched an investigation into several high-end vehicles stolen in the region. The thefts were traced back to Diaunte Shields, 29, of Racine, Wisconsin. Roush Enterprises had their trucks stolen on Nov. 18, 2022. 10 days after the trucks were stolen, surveillance footage showed an F-150 pull into a stall at a used car dealership in Milwaukee.
Two days later, surveillance footage showed the truck outside the dealership. On Dec. 1, 2022, investigators watched Shields enter the vehicle at a Milwaukee apartment and drive away. Shields was also seen arriving at a storage facility in a gray Ford F-150 that had a Michigan license plate. It was one of Roush’s stolen trucks, according to the affidavit.

Shields, along with a second man who was a part of the operation, were indicted in federal court in Wisconsin last month. They were accused of conspiring to deal in stolen motor vehicles.
One of Roush’s trucks was recovered in Texas. The whereabouts of the other is uncertain.
“This issue has been resolved, and we do not wish to comment further,” Roush spokeswoman Maureen Crowley wrote in an email to Snell.
Roush, 82, has his attention set on the 2025 Cup Series season. RFK is back to fielding three full-time cars. Brad Keselowski is in the flagship No. 6, Chris Buescher is piloting the No. 17 and Ryan Preece is behind the wheel of the No. 60.
The 2025 season gets underway Sunday, Feb. 16, with the 67th running of the Daytona 500.
