NASCAR Monday Mash-Up: Denny Hamlin does Dover again

Another weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series, and another win for Denny Hamlin. Dover and the Monster Mile were no match for the 11 team. We had a weekend of ARCA, Xfinity, and Cup Series racing. This week we finally get the Truck Series back in action, too.
The NASCAR regular season is winding down. A few more races remain between now and Daytona. Then it will be time to go racing in the playoffs.
This is do-or-die time for many teams. A few are breathing a sigh of relief now that Hamlin has won another race, and someone like Ty Gibbs did not. For drivers like Bubba Wallace and Chris Buescher, the bubble hasn’t popped just yet.
Brent Crews has scary fire during ARCA race at Dover
During the ARCA Menards Series race, Brent Crews started out strong. It appeared he would battle for the win with Brenden Queen once again.
However, an early flat tire put Crews into the wall. His car caught fire almost immediately, and it was a scary situation for the 17-year-old racer. Thankfully, he got out of the car on his own power and was released from the care center.
Butterbean Queen dominates, wins another ARCA race
Without Crews in this race, Butterbean Queen went on to dominate the field. He ran away with this win and didn’t look back for his fourth checkered flag of the season.
Queen looks like the championship favorite now. But he hasn’t run away with the points lead quite yet and has to remain on top of his game to finish the job.
Kyle Larson gets into dirt racing drama
Kyle Larson was spending a lot of time at Eldora Speedway last week. In the World of Outlaws Knight Before race on Friday, David Gravel took exception to how Larson was racing him.
The two drivers are friends generally off the track. However, he was more than upset after the Friday night race. This rivalry likely isn’t over yet.
Dover rain comes in and out during NASCAR race weekend
All weekend long, rain was an issue that NASCAR had to deal with. It was enough to completely wash out practice and qualifying for the Cup Series.
The rain would pause the Xfinity and Cup Series races for a little bit of time on Saturday and Sunday. In fact, the Xfinity race was cut short by the weather.
Connor Zilisch flexes muscles, wins NASCAR Xfinity race
Despite the rain ending the race 66 laps short, it was obvious whose race it was to lose. Connor Zilisch dominated the race that was actually run on the track, leading 77 laps.
Zilisch took down SVG at Sonoma. He then beat Aric Almirola at Dover. This weekend, Kyle Larson is in the Xfinity Series race. Can Zilisch beat another veteran talent?
MARS Late Model driver races into oncoming traffic
Let’s get away from Dover for a moment. The MARS Late Model tour took a wild turn for the worse the other night. Bob Gardner turned his car into a weapon.

While trying to get retaliation on Daryn Klein, Gardner drove into oncoming, green flag traffic. He then flipped Klein while trying to flatten his tire. Terrible example of what should happen on the track.
Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin aren’t talking about contracts
Despite the ongoing legal issues between 23XI and NASCAR, Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin are acting like it is business as usual. And they aren’t talking about Reddick’s contract, just so you know.
Both Reddick and Hamlin declined to comment on Reddick’s status with the team. Without a charter, there is a chance that the driver could go elsewhere if he so chooses.
Joey Logano gives Ross Chastain the bumper
We saw a little bit of retaliation from Chicago bleed over into Dover. Joey Logano got into Ross Chastain on the track multiple times. He even gave Chastain a bump and run for P12 at one point.
Logano does not think Chastain was punished for what he did at Chicago, despite the fact that he should have been. So, he’s taking things into his own hands.
Kyle Larson disappears during rain delay
There was about a one-hour rain delay during the Cup Series race. When that delay was over, NASCAR had trouble finding a few drivers. Kyle Larson was the last one to be found.
Who knows what Larson was doing during the delay? He got back in the car and brought home a top-five finish, though.
Denny Hamlin holds off Chase Briscoe in 2OT
In the end, Denny Hamlin was the winner at Dover. Holding off two of his teammates late in the race, Hamlin could not be shaken.
Four wins on the season and his second Dover win in a row now. Hamlin kept Chase Briscoe off his quarter panel and ran the fastest lap of the race on his way to the double overtime finish.
