NASCAR reveals modified rules for Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway

NASCAR unveiled Friday the modified pit stop rules for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway.
The modified pit stop rules are as follows, per Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.
One of the more notable changes is the minimum time required on pit road. When making a pit stop where tires and/or fuel is added, a stop must not be completed faster than the minimum allotted time of 63 seconds from yellow line to yellow line. Drivers pitting for mechanical issues, damage repair or to serve a penalty will not be subject to the minimum time on pit road. Cars must be stopped in the pit box before crew members can come over the wall. Left side tires must be controlled back to the wall.
The changes have to do with Sunday’s Cup Series race taking place at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. As a result, several teams are working with skeleton crews who may have less experience.

NASCAR returns to Portland for 3rd consecutive year
Saturday’s Pacific Office Automation 147 will be the third Xfinity Series race to take place at Portland. The first took place in 2022, AJ Allmendinger picking up the victory. Cole Custer won last year’s race at Portland.
“We are thrilled to continue what has become a NASCAR-Portland tradition into 2024. The race fans of the Pacific Northwest have certainly shown their passion for NASCAR over the past two years, so we’re excited to bring the Xfinity Series back to PIR for Year 3!” said Jerry Jensen, vice president and general manager of Green Savoree Portland, LLC, which owns and operates the event at PIR. “We can’t thank the City of Portland, the team at PIR, Travel Portland, Sport Oregon, Pacific Office Automation and all of our partners for helping make this major event possible year after year.”
