NASCAR viewership revealed for FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Prime Video

This past Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway got 1.77 million viewers on Prime Video, per Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal. Last year’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan was affected by weather, so there’s no direct comparison.
Still, that particular race drew 2.111 million viewers on USA Network. The popular and highly talked about post-show on Prime Video got 964,000 viewers over 52 minutes.
So far, so good for NASCAR on Prime Video. The first broadcast — the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway — had 2.6 million viewers. The Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway posted an audience of 2.06 million.
Yes, the overall viewership has dropped from each race to the next. But streaming is obviously a different beast than cable. NASCAR’s audience also skews older than other leagues. The most important thing for the fans watching is the quality of both the race and the broadcast.

Denny Hamlin takes checkered flag in well received race at Michigan
The broadcast has been praised up-and-down over the last few weeks. Nashville might have been a letdown from a racing perspective, but Michigan was widely seen as an entertaining 400 miles. Denny Hamlin captured the checkered flag for his third victory of the season.
This was a special one for Hamlin. He became just the 10th driver in Cup history to win a race after making his 700th start. With career win No. 57, Hamlin passed Kyle Busch for the most victories in Joe Gibbs Racing history.
“It’s fantastic,” Hamlin said. “[Crew chief] Chris Gayle, this whole team have just done a great job and we’ve been so fast throughout the entire year, just haven’t finished it for one reason or another. It feels good to come here to Michigan where we’ve been so close over the years and get a victory for Toyota, Yahoo, Sports Clips, Shady Rays, Jordan Brand, everyone. This is such a gratifying day to restart 11th, 12th, something like that and drive to the front.”
