NFL announces Kendrick Lamar as Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show headline performer

On Sunday, the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar will be the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performer. The game is scheduled to be played on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Along with the NFL’s announcement, Lamar released a video imploring fans to prepare for the show. Although Super Bowl LIX will be Lamar’s first time as the headline performer of a Super Bowl Halftime Show, it won’t be his first time gracing the stage.
He also performed at Super Bowl LVI, along with fellow rap legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige. In his limited time in the spotlight, he performed his hit songs m.A.A.d city and Alright. Now, Lamar will have a chance to put together an entire show for his countless fans.
He’ll have no shortage of new material to perform. Since Super Bowl LVI, Lamar has released an album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, along with several smash hit singles. Many of those singles came from a recent beef with popular rapper Drake.

The two pop-culture icons traded diss tracks, with Kendrick Lamar releasing songs such as euphoria, meet the grahams and Not Like Us, which instantly soared to the top of the charts. Lamar’s performance at Super Bowl LIX will just be another bullet point on his illustrious résumé.
In 2018, Kendrick Lamar received the Pulitzer Prize for Music, becoming the first musician outside of the classical and jazz genres to be honored. Moreover, Lamar has won one Primetime Emmy Award, one Brit Award, four American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards and 17 Grammy Awards (the third-most won by a rapper).
Two of his concert tours, the Damn Tour (2017–2018) and the Big Steppers Tour (2022–2024) are amongst the highest-grossing rap tours in history. Further, three of his albums were included in Rolling Stone‘s 2020 revision of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Now, Lamar will add another chapter to his storied career.
