With only several hours until the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off, some teams are still looking to move up in the draft order. On Thursday, FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz provided further details on potential trades unfolding in the draft’s first round.

“While still considered a longshot, multiple teams have contacted the #Browns and #Giants about the possibility of moving up to No. 2 and No. 3 overall,” Schultz wrote on X. “My understanding is that Cleveland has been listening — and the calls have been legitimate, not just routine check-ins.”

The Cleveland Browns have the No. 2 pick in the draft while the Giants own the No. 3 pick. In ESPN’s final NFL mock draft, draft expert Field Yates didn’t project the Browns or Giants to trade their respective Top-3 picks.

Instead, Yates predicts the Browns will draft former Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter and the Giants will select former Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter. However, Yates didn’t entirely discount the idea of a trade in the first round.

Yates projects the Browns will trade their Nos. 33 and 104 picks for the Washington Commanders’ No. 29 overall pick. Moreover, Yates believes that quarterback Shedeur Sanders will still be on the board and the Browns will reunite him and Travis Hunter in Cleveland.

“Predicting landing spots for quarterbacks beyond Ward has proved difficult this year, but if Sanders gets past Pittsburgh at No. 21, Cleveland could get good value here,” Yates wrote. “He’s accurate and throws with touch, and he’d improve the Browns’ QB outlook. They currently have Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, with Deshaun Watson out because of a torn Achilles.”

Although trade talk has been relatively quiet this year, the dominoes could always fall once the draft begins. After all, there were five trades in the first round alone of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Whether or not the Browns and Giants trade their respective picks, they undeniably need to build some momentum on draft night heading into next season. Both teams finished last season with a 3-14 record and failed to reach the NFL Playoffs.

The 2025 NFL draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for the first time. Round 1 will begin on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Rounds 2 and 3 will ensue on Friday, and Rounds 4 through 7 will follow on Saturday. The draft will be broadcast on ESPN, ABC and the ESPN App.
