NFL referee carted off field after serious injury during Bills vs. Texans TNF game

An NFL referee was carted off the field during the Week 12 Thursday Night Football game between the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills. The injury occurred midway through the third quarter.
Head referee Adrian Hill suffered a non-contact leg injury while running in the end zone as Bills quarterback Josh Allen was being sacked. Hill was able to keep his feet, though he needed assistance from members of Houston’s medical staff to get him off the field.
Hill was later carted back to the locker room area. He is undergoing an MRI on his leg, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. With Hill sidelined, the officiating crew is one short for the remainder of the game between the Texans and Bills. Umpire Roy Ellison has moved to the referee position and will work the backfield by himself.

It’s been a flag-filled contest, both teams combining for 10 penalties through three quarters of play. The Texans currently hold a 23-16 lead.
Hill, meanwhile, will await the results of the MRI. He got his start as an official back in 2004 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Hill made his NFL officiating debut in 2010 as a line judge. He was promoted to referee in 2019.
