The NFL owners are meeting in Dallas on Wednesday. And one piece of business expected to be agreed upon are the sites of future international games.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports that São Paulo, Brazil, likely will be the next city added to the NFL’s international rotation of games. Breer says the owners definitely are discussing whether to play there and could “potentially finalize” the decision for the 2024 game.

The NFC would be the home team in this scenario.

NFL is well-established in London

The NFL played five international games this season, with the contests scheduled in October and November. The first game was at Wembley Stadium in London, followed by two contests at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The November games moved to Germany and Frankfurt Stadium.

Back in October, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told a fan forum in London that the league is looking to add another international site by 2024. But he didn’t reveal any potential cities. Earlier this season, the NFL confirmed Spain and Brazil as possible sites. The league then scouted locations in each of the countries. Sau Paulo and Rio are options in Brazil, while Madrid is angling for a game in Spain.

The NFL has played regular-season games out of the country since 2005. The first was at Estadio Azteca (stadium) in Mexico City. More than 100,000 fans watched the Cardinals and 49ers. Previously, the league played preseason games on foreign soil. There even was an American Bowl, which was played from 1986 to 2005. The bowl game found its way to the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Germany, Canada, Japan, Mexico and Australia.

The league debuted the NFL International Series in October 2007. That’s when the Giants beat the Dolphins 13-10 at Wembley Stadium.

The NFL has played 38 regular season games in London and four in Mexico City. And now they are looking to be expanding the market. Morumbi Stadium or Estádio do Morumbi, with a seating capacity of 77,000, is the biggest stadium in São Paulo.
