NFL suspends 49ers WR Demarcus Robinson for three games to start 2025 season

The NFL has suspended San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson for the first three games of the 2025 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced the news on KNBR in San Francisco.
When talking about the suspension, Shanahan said the team will appeal. “Yes. You can always appeal it so we’ll hope for the best on that, but (three weeks) is what we’re planning for,” Shanahan said.
In July, Demarcus Robinson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge. It stemmed from his arrest in November after police pulled him over for allegedly driving his car at a speed in excess of 100 mph. At the time, Robinson was also charged with driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol content or high and driving without a valid license, but those charges were dismissed.
“There is an appeal process,” Shanahan told reporters earlier this month, per Pro Football Talk. “I’m not sure how it’s going. So, I always just plan for the worst and hope for the best. But he’s done a good job here. We’ve really enjoyed him as a guy, knowing he won’t be in there, most likely for those first few games. He’ll play a lot more in the preseason, but hopefully we can shorten that with an appeal process.”
