Round 1 of the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Tournament pitted two buddies against each other in Noah Gragson and Chase Briscoe. The latter even revealed ahead of this past Saturday’s race at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta that Gragson is the favorite driver of his 3-year-old son Brooks.

Briscoe was the overwhelming favorite as the No. 2 overall seed in the bracket. But after a chaos-filled 400 miles, it was Gragson who advanced to Round 2. Briscoe, who finished 35th, auctioned off his race worn gloves signed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gragson revealed Tuesday that he won the auction. After pulling off the upset with a P25 finish, Gragson is looking for something from Briscoe.

“Look what I won last night. Got [Briscoe] gloves from the race that he got knocked out of the bracket challenge lol,” Gragson tweeted. “Gonna make him sign both sets and get them framed.”

Briscoe followed up with some hard truth for Gragson: “Jokes on you I was the one running the price up after I saw you posting about them.”

Gragson’s wallet is a little lighter after winning the auction for Briscoe’s gloves. The good news is that he’s still in the hunt for the $1 million tournament prize. Gragson will go head-to-head against Ryan Preece in this Sunday’s Chicago Street Race.

Obviously, losing to Gragson was a disappointment for Briscoe. The week prior, he took the checkered flag at Pocono Raceway in impressive fashion. He was involved in the Lap 69 “Big One” at Atlanta.

“We were about ready to go. I guess NASCAR came over there and saw our chassis was bent or broke, so they’re like, ‘Yeah, you guys can’t go back out.’ So kind of wasted 30 minutes working on it. Just unfortunate,” Briscoe said after the race. “The No. 19 Toyota missed the balance at the beginning and put us behind, and obviously, that big wreck, there was just nowhere to go. Looking forward to two road courses coming up and hopefully a JGR or Toyota car can win. Just an unfortunate day for us.”
