Noah Lyles reveals why race against Tyreek Hill was called off

Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill will not be racing each other anytime soon. On Monday, Lyles said that the planned race with him and the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was scheduled to happen this weekend in New York but was canceled due to “personal reasons” and “complications.”
“We were very deep into creating the event. In fact, it was supposed to happen this weekend,” Noah Lyles said at the Sport Beach event in Cannes, France, per the New York Post. “Unfortunately there were some things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn’t come to pass, but we were full on. We were gonna have a big event, we were going to shut down New York Times Square and everything, we were gonna have all the billboards for the event, it was going to be a lot of fun.”
The talk of Lyles racing against Tyreek Hill began last year after Lyles won the gold medal in the 100- meter event at the Summer Olympics in Paris. In February, it was confirmed that the Lyles and Hill were set to race in the spring or early summer.

In 2024, Hill caught 81 passes for 859 yards and six touchdowns in his third season with the Dolphins.
Lyles has won three Olympic medals in his career. Along with winning gold for the 100-meter dash in Paris last year, Lyles earned bronze in he 200-meter dash in 2024. In the same event, Lyles earned bronze at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020 (took place in 2021).
