Packers HC Matt LaFleur interviewing Buccaneers assistant Kacy Rodgers for DL coach vacancy

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is interviewing Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach/run game coordinator Kacy Rodgers on Tuesday for their defensive line coach vacancy, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Green Bay has an opening on its coaching staff after LaFleur fired Jason Rebrovich in the aftermath of the NFC Wild Card Round defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“We appreciate Jason for his hard work and contributions to the organization over the past few seasons,” LaFleur said in a statement. “We wish all the best to him, Trish and their family in the future.”
Rodgers is out of a contract in Tampa Bay, making him available to interview.
Kacy Rodgers on the move?
Rodgers, 55, has a wealth of experience as both a defensive line coach and defensive coordinator in the NFL. Rodgers has served as Tampa Bay’s defensive line coach since 2019, initially a part of Bruce Arians‘ coaching staff. Todd Bowles retained Rodgers on his coaching staff after taking over as head coach ahead of the 2022 season and added run game coordinator to his responsibilities. Rodgers previously served as defensive coordinator for the New York Jets during Bowles’ tenure as head coach from 2015-18.

Under Rodgers’ tutelage, the Buccaneers have routinely boasted one of the league’s better defensive line units. Vita Vea has two Pro Bowls on his resume, Ndamukong Suh helped Tampa Bay win a Super Bowl in 2020, while Calijah Kancey has tallied 11.5 sacks in his first two seasons in the NFL.
While Tampa Bay’s ground game ranked as the league’s worst in 2022 and ’23, it took a massive step forward this season. With the help of offensive coordinator Liam Coen, the Buccaneers finished fourth in rushing. Tampa Bay set a franchise record with 2,536 rushing yards, 1,122 coming from rookie tailback Bucky Irving.
