Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks reacts to Josh Jacobs suggesting Green Bay is missing 'proven' No. 1 receiver

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was very open on Wednesday about what he believes the team needs to get to the next level.
Jacobs, speaking with Kay Adams of the “Up & Adams Show” at Super Bowl Radio Row in New Orleans, said the Packers need multiple pieces.
“I think we need like three,” Jacobs said.
When Adams asked what exactly the Packers need, Jacobs said, “We need a wide receiver. A real wide receiver. Love the guys we have but we need a proven No. 1.”
Jacobs made similar comments while making the rounds at Radio Row, including on 93.7 The Game in Green Bay. But those remarks didn’t go over so well with Dontavion Wicks, Jacobs’ Packers teammate who of course, plays receiver.
Jayden Reed was the Packers’ leading receiver this season, hauling in 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. The next leading pass-catcher? Tight end Tucker Kraft, who caught 50 passes for 707 yards and seven scores. As for Wicks, he tallied 39 receptions for 415 yards and five touchdowns.

In the 22-10 NFC Wild Card Round defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, Reed led the way with 46 yards on four catches. Absent from that game was Christian Watson, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears and will likely miss a significant chunk of the 2025 season.
Josh Jacobs interested in reunion with former Packers star WR?
That brings us back to Jacobs, who says the Packers need a proven wideout. Enter Davante Adams, Jacobs’ teammate with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and ’23. The former Packers star is now a New York Jet but at 32 years old, carries a $38.34 million cap hit in 2025, per Spotrac. New York is unlikely to pay that, making Adams a cut candidate when the new league year opens in March.
Adams is still productive, and Jacobs would be interested in a reunion — provided the value is right.
“Most definitely. I think he’s an amazing receiver, amazing person, obviously I would want to see what it would cost us,” Jacobs said. “… We have a spot for him.”
