Park Avenue Shooter update: Gunman inside NFL headquarters building found dead by suicide, multiple people shot

The suspect related to the shooting in midtown Manhattan near NFL HQ is dead, according to ABC News. The shooter, who has been identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, reportedly “killed himself.”
Their police sources state that he committed suicide after fleeing into the building, which contains the headquarters of the NFL, as well as an investment company called Blackstone. He died on the 33rd floor by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, where he was presumedly found by law enforcement.
Initially, it was reported that one police officer and civilian were injured by gunfire during the incident. However, the New York Post reported that “at least four other people were shot and killed — and at least six others (were) injured” in the aftermath of the event. However, their sources stated that the numbers could rise as they clear the building.
According to NFL insider Jeff Darlington, he was told that NFL employees at the NFL HQ, which is located at 345 Park Ave, were given directions to shelter in place. He revealed that employees were sent the following message: “Do not exit the building. Secure your location and hide until law enforcement clears your floor. Please switch phones to silent.”
NYC mayor Eric Adams warned residents to avoid the area. The NYPD said on social media for those in the area to expect emergency vehicles and delays due to police activity. The NYPD first alerted to the active shooting at 6:50 p.m. At 7:52 p.m., NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch confirmed that “the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized.”

Multiple videos across social media depict a siren-filled city street lined with police vehicles and ambulances responding to the shooting. Police can be seen attempting to enter the building where the suspect was located.
The Post identified the shooter as Shane Tamura, who is from Las Vegas. Photos from outside of the building circulated around social media depicting the suspect appearing to casually walk up to the building at 345 Park Ave with a rifle in-hand.
Tamura reportedly began to open fire at around 6:30 p.m. before turning the gun on himself. A witness described the incident to The Post. They said it sounded like a barrage of shots, like an automatic weapon. “Like a high-capacity weapon.”
The identities of those killed and injured have not been released besides the shooter at the time of this report. According to the New York Post the police officer killed in duty was from the 47 Precinct, however, was working paid detail at the time for Rudin Properties, the company who owns the building.
