Park Avenue Shooter update: Roger Goodell internal memo revealed, NFL employee seriously injured in attack

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell released an internal memo to NFL employees amid the acts of the Park Avenue shooter Monday. Goodell also revealed an NFL employee was among those seriously injured in the attack.
The suspect related to the Park Avenue shooting in midtown Manhattan is dead, per ABC News. The shooter, who has been identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, reportedly “killed himself.” The New York Post reported that “at least four other people were shot and killed — and at least six others (were) injured” in the aftermath of the event.
“NFL employees: As has been widely reported, a gunman committed an unspeakable act of violence in our building at 345 Park Avenue,” Goodell’s memo said. “One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack. He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition. NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family.
“We believe that all of our employees are otherwise sage and accounted for, and the building has nearly been cleared. We are deeply grateful to the law enforcement officers who responded to this threat quickly and decisively and to Officer Islam, who gave his life to protect others. Please continue to pay close attention to GSOC notices for all available emergency information. These communications allow us to ensure that you are safe.”
Goodell also announced new security measures at the building on Park Avenue in light of the shooting. Employees were also encouraged to use the company’s resources available to them.

“As you know, there are significant resources available to all employees, including grief counselors,” Goodell’s memo said. “Shortly, HR will send you more information on the available resources and how to take advantage of them. Those based in New York should work remotely tomorrow. It is understandable if you prefer to take the day off. There will be an increased security presence at 345 Park Avenue in the days and weeks to come.
“Every one of you is a valued member of the NFL family. We will get through this together.”
The Post identified the shooter as Shane Tamura, who is from Las Vegas. Photos from outside of the building circulated around social media depicting the suspect appearing to casually walk up to the building at 345 Park Ave with a rifle in-hand.
Tamura reportedly began to open fire at around 6:30 p.m. before turning the gun on himself. A witness described the incident to The Post. They said it sounded like a barrage of shots, like an automatic weapon. “Like a high-capacity weapon.”
The identities of those killed and injured have not been released besides the shooter at the time of this report. According to the New York Post the police officer killed in duty was from the 47 Precinct, however, was working paid detail at the time for Rudin Properties, the company who owns the building.
