Patrick Mahomes injured against Cleveland Browns, Carson Wentz comes in at QB for Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes was injured against the Cleveland Browns, limping off with a left leg injury. Veteran QB Carson Wentz subbed in on the ensuing drive, leading 21-7.
Mahomes was hit high and low and appeared to be sandwiched between defenders. He was later seen getting tape on his left ankle on the sideline prior to the next drive.
However, Wentz came in with Kansas City up by two scores, his first legitimate action with the team.
Mahomes is currently questionable to return to the game as the Chiefs look to improve to 13-1 on the year. Before exiting with an injury, he had 159 yards, two touchdowns and a 50% completion percentage against Cleveland.

Coming into the game, Mahoes had 3,189 yards, 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
This isn’t the first time Mahomes was hurt this season. He had an additional ankle injury back in November.
“I rolled my ankle,” Mahomes told Lisa Salters of ESPN. “I rolled it last week and when you roll it again, it never feels good. As I got some time, started feeling better. Got a short week, but we’ll rehab it and I’ll be ready to go next week.”
The injury occurred as Mahomes flipped a pass forward to running back Samaje Perine for a six-yard score to tie the game at 17 all against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mahomes limped to Tampa Bay’s sideline before several teammates carried him over to Kansas City’s sideline. He had a brief stay in the blue medical tent before returning to the game on the Chiefs’ next offensive possession.
Those in attendance at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium were obviously concerned about the three-time Super Bowl champion signal caller. That feeling of concern quickly shifted to relief when Mahomes ran back onto the field. Mahomes received a large cheer before Kansas City’s first play.
