Patrick Reed holes out for ridiculous US Open albatross at Oakmont

Patrick Reed hit an insane albatross during the first round of the US Open. The shot happened on the fourth hole at the Oakmont Country Club as Reed made it with a two on a par five.
Patrick Reed hopes that shot will give him momentum for the rest of the tournament. He has yet to win the US Open, as his highest finish was fourth in 2018. Reed is looking to win the second major of his career. His first came in 2018 when he won the Masters.
While speaking to Golf.com last year, Reed was asked what has made him a successful golfer. “I think the biggest thing is self-belief,” he said. “You have to really believe you belong out here, believe you can win. And the only way that’s going to happen is by working really hard and keeping yourself uncomfortable. I feel like I’ve always done that through practices, giving myself bad lies, nestled down a little bit, maybe a little into the grain, on rough edges. I practice being uncomfortable, because when I do get those lies I’m like, I’ve done this before.”
Patrick Reed says he’s ‘just a guy’ outside the golf course
Reed also talked about what he wanted people to say about him. “I’d just want them to be truthful. That I’m not what the media says I am. I’m actually the total opposite. I mean, I’m a caring husband, father and friend. I love to give back. I love to grill, to cook. I just love to have fun and, of course, to grind — do what I need to do on the golf course. But outside the golf course, I’m just a guy.”

In his PGA Tour career, Patrick Reed has won nine tournaments, with the last happening in January 2021 when he placed first in the Farmers Insurance Open. He joined LIV Golf in 2022 and played in a tournament in Virginia last weekend.
“At the end of the day, I felt like when my family and I sat down and we just weighed all of our options, we felt like joining LIV Golf, especially with talking to some of the guys that played in London, that this was definitely the right decision,” Reed said after leaving the PGA Tour in 2022. “The right decision for us mainly mentally and physically just the quality of life, being able to spend more time with the kids because that’s been the hardest thing.”
