Penn State will travel to UCLA for a showdown in the Big Ten during Week 6. The Nittany Lions won last year’s matchup 27-11 during the Bruins’ first season in the conference.

With game day approaching, the early odds and point spread have been revealed. Penn State opened as a 25.5-point favorite over UCLA at home. The over/under is set at 50.5 total points, courtesy of BetMGM.

Saturday’s matchup between the Nittany Lions and Bruins will feature the first time Penn State faces UCLA on its home turf since 1968. That game was held at the LA Memorial Coliseum and the Nittany Lions won 21-6.

Historically, this will be the eighth all-time matchup between the two programs. Though, that number will likely increase now that they share a conference. UCLA leads the all-time series 4-3 with six of those previous matchups coming between 1963 and 1968.

Fast forward to 2025, both teams have a different outlook on the 2025 season. UCLA fired its former head coach DeShaun Foster after an 0-3 start, while Penn State is looking to stake its claim as a national championship contender once again after making it to the College Football Playoff semifinal one year ago.

Both teams feature notable quarterbacks as well. UCLA’s Nico Iamaleava has a chance to earn the Bruins its signature win of the season. Meanwhile, Penn State’s Drew Allar has an NFL ceiling and returned to school for one reason: to win a national championship.
