Peyton Manning endorses postgame fight between Jauan Jennings, Tre'Von Moehrig: "I'd probably rather that happened than a jersey swap'
Peyton Manning had an interesting reaction to Jauan Jennings punching Tre’Von Moehrig after the Monday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers. On the ManningCast, Manning was excited to see some post-game drama.
“I’d probably rather that happened than a jersey swap,” Peyton Manning said. “Wouldn’t you if you’re on the Panthers side? A little fire.”
Jauan Jennings punched Tre’Von Moehrig because Moehrig punched Jennings in the groin towards the end of the game. Moehrig may have been frustrated since the Panthers lost to the 49ers 20-9. The Panthers fell to 6-6 on the year, while the 49ers improved to 8-4.
Jennings had a solid night, catching five passes for 41 yards and one touchdown. Entering the Panthers game, the 28-year-old has recorded 32 receptions for 378 yards and three touchdowns.
The 49ers selected Jennings in the seventh round of the 2020 draft. In 2024, the former Tennessee star had his best season, catching 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns.

During the summer, Jennings requested a trade as he was entering the final year of his two-year, $15.4 million contract. In August, 49ers general manager John Lynch said they were not going to trade the veteran receiver.

“He asked for it, and we’ve moved on,” Lynch said at the time, per the Associated Press. “We’re not doing that. We’re moving forward.”
Moehrig had a big night for the Panthers, recording eight tackles (four solo) and one tackle for loss. Entering Monday’s game, the veteran safety had 73 tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack, and two passes defended for the season.
The Panthers signed Moehrig to a three-year, $51 million contract in March. He joined the Panthers after spending his first four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. Moehrig made the PWFA All-Rookie Team after posting 55 tackles, one interception, and six passes defended.
The NFL could punish Jennings for his punch to Moehrig. Earlier this season, the league suspended Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch for one game after inciting a post-game fight with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster.
