PGA Tour trolls Boston Celtics using Rory McIlroy

The PGA Tour used Rory McIlroy to troll the Boston Celtics after the team lost to the New York Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. On Thursday, the PGA Tour’s official X/Twitter account shared a video of the defending Masters champion shooting what seems to be a piece of paper in a trash can.
“What the Celtics needed in the 4th quarter last night,” the PGA Tour wrote in the post. The Celtics could have used Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and the rest of the PGA Tour stars as they shot just 21 percent from the field in the fourth quarter on Wednesday night. After having a 20-point lead with 14 minutes remaining, the Knicks rallied and defeated the defending champs 91-90 to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
“They made every play. … I thought we generated some good looks and then I thought we had some live-ball turnovers and they took advantage of it, so they made the necessary plays to win,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game, per ESPN. “We put ourselves in position and we just didn’t make the plays.”
Boston Celtics on the verge of being eiminated from the playoffs
“I don’t have the answer honestly, I don’t have the answer,” Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis said. “Just a little bit of execution here and there. There’s a couple missed shots here and there. A couple things go their way and it just adds up and it’s this result.”

The Celtics came into the 2024-25 season looking to run it back and win their 19th NBA title. They finished the regular season with a 61-21 record, the second time in as many seasons Boston has won 60 or more games. But now the Celtics are two losses away from their season coming to an end.
“Obviously, being down 0-2, it sucks, but we got a great group and if I could select any guys that could get it done, it’s the group we have in the locker room,” Celtics guard Jaylen Brown said, per Celtics Blog. “We just gotta come out, be a little more poised, take a deep breath, convert our opportunities. We missed layups, easy baskets. In two games, we up twenty points and somehow, not end up with wins. It’s inexcusable, but we’re going to learn from it. We’re going to respond.”
