A glimmer of hope still resides in Pittsburgh, as the Steelers have an opportunity to make the playoffs still. Wins in the final two games, at the bare minimum, will be needed — beginning on Sunday Night Football against AFC North rival Baltimore.

Ahead of the matchup, Pittsburgh made three roster moves. Beginning with linebacker Marcus Allen, who suffered a bicep injury that required surgery. He was then placed on the Reserve/Injured list which means his 2022 season is finished.

In 15 games this season for the Steelers, Allen has been a special teams player. All of his snaps have come there, recording 12 total tackles. He did an attempt to rush the ball, though, going for four yards and a first down on a fake punt against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While Allen did not have a role on a solid Pittsburgh defense, losing an important special teams player can be just as important at times.

Pittsburgh Steelers sign Tae Crowder from Giants practice squad

A direct replacement has been made by Pittsburgh, with linebacker Tae Crowder being signed off the New York Giants practice squad. He will finish out the final two games of the regular season with the Steelers.

Crowder began the season with the Giants as a starter, doing so in eight games. However, over the next five games, he has seen his role diminish before eventually being waived. New York resigned him to the practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster in Pittsburgh.

In 15 appearances, Crowder has 26 tackles and three tackles for a loss. He was able to add a sack, two quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble. A solid replacement who has starting experience this season for Allen.

Safety Scott Nelson signed to practice squad

A practice move squad was made as well by Pittsburgh, signing Scott Nelson. He had previously been on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.

Nelson was an undrafted free agent coming out of Wisconsin. Seattle signed him however, he was released during the final roster cuts before the season began. He was quickly resigned by the Seahawks before landing in Pittsburgh.
