Former Arizona and North Carolina guard Caleb Love is expected to sign a two-way NBA contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Love played five seasons at the college level.

Despite his prolific scoring numbers at both of his schools, Love went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. This past season he averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Wildcats.

Most of his career was spent in Chapel Hill. As a true freshman team, he was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team. The next season he helped lead the Tar Heels to the national championship game as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After transferring away to Arizona, Love would go on to win Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2024 and was later named named First-Team All-Big-12 in 2025 after the Wildcats changed conferences.

In total, Love finishes his college career having played in 174 games, logging 168 starts (including starting all 73 games he played at Arizona) across those five years. His career average finishes at 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Before ending his college career, Love sent a thoughtful message to everyone who helped him get there along the way.

“I just want to thank each and every one of my teammates and my coaches for sticking with me, as a person, first and foremost, because I went through a lot transferring from my other school, and they took me under their wing, and they accepted me for who I was,” Love told the media. “I just want to give all my thanks to them because without them, I wouldn’t be here, and I wouldn’t be the player that I’ve grown to be. The points are good, but the relationships that I’ve built over the course of my career, especially at Arizona, is just — I give all my thanks to them.”

What NBA Draft analysts are saying about Caleb Love

Now that love is NBA-bound, Trail Blazers fans should know what they’re getting in Caleb Love. RotoWire provided the latest analysis on Love’s game ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft.

“Love is a downhill, off-the-dribble scorer who can go basket for basket with the best when he gets hot. He was an all-around producer in college, even as a freshman, but never took a statistical leap. Love has tons of potential on both sides of the ball but needs to be more consistent at the NBA level.”
