President Joe Biden, White House set to host Super Bowl Champion Chiefs on May 31

The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs will be making visiting the White House and celebrating their achievement on May 31.
The White House confirmed the date this morning, meaning Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and all the other Chiefs will be mingling with President Joe Biden. It’s a tradition that the president invites national championship pro and college teams for a reception at the White House.
The Chiefs made the trek to DC last year as well. Biden even met with coach Andy Reid, Mahomes and Kelce in the Oval Office.
And when the Chiefs beat the 49ers in overtime back in February, the president toasted the team on social media while sharing a throwback clip of last year’s fun in the White House.
There was a goofy part of the celebration. Kelce wanted to grab the microphone and address the crowd. But Mahomes shooed him away.

Mahomes definitely was amazed by last year’s visit.
“I mean, I’ve never been to Washington, DC. I’ve never even got to see from the outside, seeing the White House or any of the monuments or memorials,” Mahomes told reporters. “And so, to be able to be here and see that, and see the history of this great nation that we have – it was really cool for me to just be here and be in the moment, and I don’t think I could ever really imagine it being as cool as it was.”
There may be some controversy tagging along this year when the Chiefs visit the White House. Harrison Butker, the Chiefs kicker, gave a commencement speech to a private Catholic college in Kansas earlier this month. In his 20-minute speech, he hit a lot of hot-button topics. Butker called out Biden several times. The kicker is a devout Catholic and believes Biden shouldn’t call himself one since he is pro choice.
Reporters asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if Butker still was on the guests list. She said all the Chiefs were invited.
