Pro Football Hall of Fame announces changes for ceremony

The 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony will move from prime time to the afternoon, according to a report from NBC Sports. This year’s ceremony is set to begin at noon on Saturday, Aug. 6, on the same weekend that the NFL kicks off its preseason with the Hall of Fame Game.
Hall of Fame President Jim Porter said on NFL Network that the decision to change times was supported by both the league’s television partners and the Hall of Famers who attend the event. According to NBC Sports, this move comes in response to growing complaints that the event reaches too late into the night as attendees and viewers grow tired.
The 2022 enshrinement ceremony will also air live on both ESPN and NFL Network, ending much earlier than previous years.
Hall of Fame Game information
The Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars will take the field for the 2022 Hall of Fame Game at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 4, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced. The game, as always, will take place in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, which is adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The game will kickoff the 103rd annual NFL season.
This year’s Hall of Fame Game will be the debut for Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels. This game will be especially excited for McDaniels, a Canton native, who played his home high school football games at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium back when the facility was known as Fawcett Stadium. This will also be the debut for Jaguars coach Doug Pederson, who is best known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, who guided them to a win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
