For the second time on Sunday Night Football, Dallas star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has gone down with an injury. This time around he’s headed to the locker room.

Williams was injured while flowing toward a run a Minnesota run play. As the running back cut back, Williams went down in a heap with his legs tangled up under him.

He was tended to on the field by trainers. After a minute or two, Quinnen Williams was able to get to his feet. He was assisted to the locker room by team personnel.

The injury late in the fourth quarter was the second of the game for Williams. He also went down hurt in the first half. He was banged up after making a stop on third down.

The Vikings were facing third-and-inches and ran the ball up the gut. Williams made the stop and his momentum carried him and the ball-carrier past the first down marker.

Nothing initially jumped out about the play on the television broadcast, but Quinnen Williams got up and headed to the sideline after the play. According to numerous reporters, he then entered the team’s medical tent on the sideline.

However, the injury didn’t appear overly serious. Williams was back on the field a short time later.

Nick Saban raves about Quinnen Williams

The Dallas Cowboys made a splashy acquisition before the trade deadline this year when they acquired New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The former Alabama star headed to Dallas intent on making an impact.

So far he’s done just that. The Cowboys have started to play much better defensively.

“First of all, Quinnen is one of those guys that he wasn’t a highly recruited guy in high school,” said former Alabama coach Nick Saban on The Pat McAfee Show in late November. “I don’t even know if he had any stars, but we liked him as a player. He came here, he worked his tail off to become what he is. He got bigger, he got stronger.

“The guy is a very good player and he has got the right work ethic, attitude, because he developed and came up from nothing in terms of his athletic career. It wasn’t like he was some high-profile guy that everything was kind of laid out for him. He worked his way into being something that people didn’t think he could be. And I think that carries over in his competitive personality, how he gets along with people.”
