Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, according to a statement from the Fort Lauderdale Police. However, according to a new report from CBS News Miami, the alleged domestic battery didn’t occur on Saturday.

In fact, CBS News Miami‘s Hunter Geisel reported that the alleged incident occurred on July 7. But, the victim didn’t report the alleged battery until Saturday.

“According to court records, the victim and Judkins came to South Florida ‘as friends,’ but after the alleged incident, she stayed with him in Fort Lauderdale for five additional days and celebrated her birthday,” Geisel wrote. “It was not until after that the victim reported the incident, court records revealed.

Judkins was reportedly released from Broward County Jail on Sunday after posting a $2,500 bail. Fort Lauderdale Police provided further details on Judkins’ arrest in a statement released on Sunday.

“On July 12th, at approximately 9 a.m., Fort Lauderdale Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Cypress Creek Road in reference to a delayed battery,” the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations statement read, per Oyefusi. “Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim.

“During their preliminary investigation it was determined a battery had occurred. The officers made contact with the suspect and placed him into custody. He was transported to Broward County Main Jail. The suspect has been identified as Quinshon Judkins, DOB 10/29/2003 and has been charged with Misdemeanor Battery (Domestic) FSS 784.03-1a1.”

On April 24, the Cleveland Browns selected Quinshon Judkins with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After transferring to Ohio State last season, Judkins was pivotal in the Buckeyes winning their first national title since 2014.

In the 2024 campaign, Judkins tallied 1,060 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. He was also a receiving threat and hauled in 22 passes for 161 yards and two scores. He was named an All-Big Ten Third-Team selection for his efforts.

Before transferring to Ohio State, Judkins had two standout seasons at Ole Miss. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each of his seasons with the Rebels and was particularly spectacular during his debut campaign in 2022.

He was the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year and an All-SEC First-Team member in 2022 and ’23. Notably, Judkins hasn’t signed his rookie contract yet with the Browns. On Sunday, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy addressed Judkins’ arrest.

“We are aware of the matter, but will decline further comment,” McCarthy said, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
