Ram Trucks teases NASCAR return with new video, possible announcement date

It appears we are closer to getting the official announcement for the return of Ram to the NASCAR Truck Series this weekend. Michigan International Speedway is the best place to make a major automaker announcement, right?
Stellantis was busy this week introducing the new 2026 Hemi V8. The Ram 1500 is getting its heart and soul back under the hood. Stellantis is also investing in building the next generation of Hellcat V8s in addition to the line of Hemis.
Unfortunately for the automaker, the Ram Truck Series model was leaked this week. However, it looks like Sunday will be the day we get the official announcement.
In a video captioned “A taste of what’s coming. 06.08.25,” the Ram Trucks X/Twitter account is teasing NASCAR fans. A set of Goodyear Eagles on a Ram truck, doing a burnout on what appears to be a NASCAR race track…I mean, you ain’t slick, Stellantis. We know what this is.
Ever since Dodge left NASCAR, the sport has been searching for that fourth OEM. Well, things have come full circle, and now Dodge and Ram are back in the sport as the fourth OEM.
According to the latest reporting on the matter, Ram Trucks will enter the Truck Series for the 2026 season. Then, Dodge will rejoin the Cup Series either in 2027 or 2028, depending on how the timeline works out.

Rumors around Ram and Dodge return to NASCAR
The good news for NASCAR fans doesn’t stop with just the return of Ram and Dodge to the sport. This extends to the consumer market with a recommittment to the Hemi and Hellcat V8s for the foreseeable future. General Motors has also made massive investments this year into the future of the V8.
Even a year ago, NASCAR and folks like Elton Sawyer were talking about hybrid systems and this and that. While that may be the future of the sport years down the road, this signals to me that the V8 engines aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
YouTuber and part-time ARCA driver, Cleetus McFarland, has been tied to the Ram return in NASCAR. He could be a part-time Truck Series driver for whatever organization takes on the Ram banner or is created as the team for the return of the brand.
Finally, after years of talking about it, the fourth OEM is back. Ram is going to be returning to the NASCAR Truck Series. Then, Dodge will follow in the Cup Series. Let’s hope we also see the brand make a presence in the Xfinity Series.
