Maine wide receiver Montigo Moss, the son of Hall of Famer Randy Moss, will receive a tryout at Minnesota Vikings minicamp. Moss’ reps announced the invitation Tuesday.

Last season, Montigo Moss caught 61 passes for 722 yards and seven touchdowns and earned All-CAA honors last season. He went undrafted but has a chance to make an NFL roster, in a place where his father was most famous for in his career.

Overall, Motigo Moss had 143 catches for 1,692 yards and 16 touchdowns across five collegiate seasons. Moss was not a ranked prospect per the On3 Industry ranking and also played for Fork Union Military Academy in post-grad. He is from Charlotte (N.C.).

Montigo’s older brother Thaddeus was a star at LSU, winning the 2019 national championship. The tight end was not drafted in 2020 but had a short NFL stint with the Washington Football Team and Cincinnati Bengals over two years. He also had time in the USFL and CFL.

Montigo Moss will look to make the most of it, trying to make an NFL roster. Funny enough, he wore No. 81 in college, as did Thaddeus. Randy wore No. 81 with the New England Patriots from 2007-10 where he also set the record for single season touchdown receptions (23) in ’07.

Randy Moss details comeback from health scare

A long-time TV analyst following his illustrious playing career, Moss was forced to step away for some time due to his illness. But now, he’s back on the biggest stage and it was a welcome sight to see Moss return during Super Bowl LIX.

“Hey, man, it’s a great pleasure to be here,” Moss said to open Sunday NFL Countdown. “Man, Super Bowl LIX, when I was diagnosed with the cancer, you know, I was talking to Seth Markman, and I said, you know, I’m (gonna) stay strong. I’m (gonna) beat this thing.

“And my goal was to be here with you guys. So, man, God bless you guys for staying strong with me, with the prayers, the prayer warriors, my doctors, my beautiful wife traveling with me. Man, where would I not want to be if I couldn’t be here with you guys? Super Bowl LIX. It’s a great day to be here.”

Moss is one of the all-time great receivers in NFL and college football history. During his time at Marshall, he helped the Thundering Herd to a national title and won the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in the country in 1997 as part of his Hall of Fame career.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Moss with the No. 21 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, and he spent 14 years in the league. He was a four-time All-Pro and a six-time Pro Bowler, leading the NFL in touchdown receptions five times, as he ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Moss played for the Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers in his career, making two Super Bowls.
