Veteran NFL offensive lineman La’el Collins is looking to run it back with the Dallas Cowboys. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys are bringing in Collins for a workout this weekend. La’el Collins was with the Cowboys from 2015 to 2021 and spent time on their practice squad in 2023.

The Cowboys are looking at Collins after Tyler Guyton suffered a knee injury at practice this week. Guyton sustained a bone fracture and is out for four to six weeks. That means he could be ready to go when the Cowboys kick off the 2025 season in September.

“I want to be the guy that can be depended on…” Guyton said in May, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com. “I just feel like I had a lot to prove and I needed to work on things, and getting in here earlier was the way I was gonna do it. … I’m not going to make any excuses. I just didn’t play as good as I needed to last year.”

Before the injury, Guyton spoke to reporters about his health. “My body feels great,” Guyton said on Sunday. “I feel a big difference from last year to this year in terms of my stamina, my strength on the football field going into training camp, so big improvement.”

Looking at La’el Collins’ previous sints with the Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys signed Collins as an undrafted free agent in 2015. During his six seasons in Dallas, Collins played in 74 games with 71 starts at guard and tackle.

In March 2022, the Cowboys released Collins after they gave him permission to seek a trade. He signed a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals and played in 15 games at right tackle. At the start of the 2023 season, Collins was placed on the physically unable to perform list and was then released from the team.

At the end of the 2023 season, Collins was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad. His contract expired when the 2023 season ended on January 14, 2024. In April of last year, Collins signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills. He was cut before the 2024 season kicked off.
