Report: Golden State Warriors sign Will Richard to four-year rookie deal

The Golden State Warriors ended up with Will Richard out of Florida in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Now, the franchise is already investing a lot into him based on the new details of his rookie deal.
Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Golden State has signed Richard to a four-year rookie contract. That includes two of those years being fully guaranteed for the second-round draft pick with the Warriors.
“Golden State’s No. 56 pick Will Richard is signing a four-year contract, with two years fully guaranteed as the Warriors invest long-term in the rookie, his agents Jared Mucha and Marcus Monk of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN,” Charania tweeted on Sunday night.
Beyond their big three of Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, Golden State has been in search of some quality depth pieces, namely younger ones, to continue to build out their roster. Players like Buddy Hield, Brandin Podziemski, and Moses Moody, among others, have been part of that, but the Warriors have added more this offseason in making deals during the draft for Richard as well as Alex Toohey. The team also, just earlier today, signed Al Horford as a free ageny with the 39-year-old, 18-year veteran in the NBA is also a former Gator himself.
Richard just finished a college career spent at Belmont and Florida, as he spent a year with the Bruins before transferring to spend his final three seasons with the Gators. He, over that entire career in Nashville and Gainesville, posted 11.9 points (46.3% FG, 35.5% 3PT on 1.8 makes), 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals.

Most notably, though, Richard had a career-best campaign last season as part of the national championship team for Florida. He, an All-SEC Tournament and All-NCAA Tournament selection, averaged 13.3 points (48.7% FG, 35.9% 3PT on 2.0 makes), 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for the Gators, as the team, also led by other draft picks at guard in Walter Clayton Jr. (Utah Jazz) and Alijah Martin (Toronto Raptors), went 36-4 overall in winning both the conference and national titles.
Richard would be selected at No. 56 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft back at the end of June. He was a choice by the Memphis Grizzlies before being acquired in a draft trade by the Golden State Warriors.
Richard could be a solid rotational piece as early as this season as a rookie in the NBA. Golden State clearly thinks that too, at least based on already fully guaranteeing half of his deal with them out in San Francisco.
