Report: Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb had surgery

Thursday, the Green Bay Packers announced Randall Cobb would be out indefinitely. A new report from ESPN’s Rob Demovsky sheds more light on the severity of Cobb’s injury.
It sounds like Cobb will mess the rest of the regular season after he had core muscle surgery, Demovsky reported Thursday night. It’s possible Cobb returns for the playoffs, though, according to Demovsky.
Cobb suffered the injury against the Rams last week and coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday he’d some time as a result.
“Cobby’s going to be out for a while,” LaFleur said, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “He had a pretty significant injury.”
Cobb is Green Bay’s No. 2 receiver behind Davante Adams. He has 375 yards on 28 catches and has five touchdowns to his name this year.
This is Cobb’s second stint in Green Bay. He was with the Packers from 2011-18 before moving on to the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texas. The Packers made a trade for Cobb this past offseason.
Kickoff between the Packers and the Bears is coming Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears Thursday injury report
Ahead of their matchup with the Chicago Bears this week, the Green Bay Packers have made their injury report available from Thursday’s practice.
The Packers are coming off of their bye week, and the biggest news so far is that starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still not practicing. Rodgers is trying to heal his toe fracture without getting surgery. The Packers were also without Randall Cobb again.
On the bright side of the injury report, Malik Taylor and Kevin King were full-go on Thursday.
Did Not Practice – Packers: T David Bakhtiari (Knee), QB Aaron Rodgers (Toe), WR Randall Cobb (Core), TE Marcedes Lewis (Vet Rest)

While Rodgers has not missed any time with his toe injury, the extra bye week will certainly boost to his recovery. The injury is “painful” according to Rodgers, but it hasn’t thrown off his game. The Packers continue to win games.
In great news for the Packers David Bakhtiari moved to the roster from IR after his ACL tear suffered nearly ten months ago. Although he is still out from practice, Bakhtiari’s return will be a “day-to-day process” according to the team.
Randall Cobb was out from practice as well on Thursday as he recovers from a core injury. Mercedez Lewis went from unlisted on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday’s injury report.
Limited Participation – Packers: WR Davante Adams (Hamstring)
Davante Adams continues to recover from his hamstring injury but he’s only a limited participant in practice this week. Before the bye week, his last listed injury was to his ankle.
Full Participation – Packers: WR Malik Taylor (Abdomen), CB Kevin King (Hip/Knee)
Malik Taylor is dealing with an injury to his abdomen, but unlike Randall Cobb he has been able to practice. He was limited on Wednesday but a full participant on Thursday.
Kevin King returned to the injury list with a hip and knee injury this week, but he moved to full participation on Thursday.
