The New York Jets have signed center Josh Myers to a two-year, $11 million contract extension. The report came via ESPN‘s Adam Schefter on Friday morning.

New York now has four of its five starting offensive linemen (Myers, Olu Fashanu, Joe Tippmann, and Armand Membou) under contract for next season. With those four anchoring the offensive line, the Jets’ passing offense ranks 29th in the NFL. Their rush offense ranks eighth in the league.

Myers, who played four seasons at Ohio State (2017-2020) and was named a Second Team All-American, was selected with the No. 62 overall pick in the Second Round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. After four seasons in Green Bay, Myers signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with New York this offseason. Thanks to some strong play, the organization decided to reward him with the extension.

“I spoke with my agent a lot about where we wanted to end up landing,” Myers told NewYorkJets.com prior to the season. “The more we talked about it and the more we thought about it, the more the Jets just seemed like the perfect fit. For one, just everything I’ve got with Justin [Fields], just the camaraderie we have. Also, we like the direction the team’s going in and we’re really excited for it.”

While the team entered the season as a sneaky pick to potentially make a playoff push in the AFC for the first time since 2010, things have not quite gone great for first-year head coach Aaron Glenn‘s team. The Jets opened the season with seven consecutive losses, but have gone 3-3 over their last six games. It seems like too little, too late, however, as New York will miss the postseason for the 15th consecutive season.

Per Pro Football Focus, Myers has played 803 offensive snaps for the Jets this season. In that span, he’s tallied seven penalties but allowed just one sack. His 53.6 PFF grade ranks 37/38 qualified centers around the league. His 56.9 pass block grade ranks 29/38 at the position, while his 56.5 run block grade ranks 34/38 at the position.

Coming off a demoralizing 34-10 loss to their division rival Miami Dolphins last Sunday, the Jets will look to get back into the win column this Sunday against the red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars, sitting at 9-4, could take complete control of the AFC South with a win over New York on Sunday.
