According to police records obtained by Fox 59, 64-year-old Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was found in his home struggling to breathe following a suspected overdose last month.

Here was that report:

“Emergency responders found Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay unresponsive and laboring to breathe when called to his home in Carmel last month in what a police report logged as a suspected ‘overdose.’

Per Fox 59, the responding officer wrote in the report: “Irsay was unconscious with abnormal breathing (agonal breathing), a weak pulse, and he was cold to the touch.”

TMZ also obtained police records of the incident and added the following details:

“Cops were dispatched to Irsay’s Carmel residence on Dec. 8 at around 4:30 AM … after someone said they had found the Indianapolis Colts owner unconscious on a bathroom floor with a blue skin tone.”

Fox 59’s Mike Chappell provided the latest statement from the Colts on Irsay:

“Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness. We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family’s privacy be respected.”

In the past, Irsay has said himself that a different overdose nearly killed him and left him “lucky” to be alive. Per Fox 59, that revelation came during an interview with HBO where Irsay recalled the scary situation from years ago:

“I was trying to detox myself, and I mixed multiple drugs that I didn’t know anything about. So all of a sudden, I start slurring my words. And then code blue, I stop breathing. And they revive me and the doctor goes, ‘Jim, you’re one lucky man because I had virtually signed the death certificate.’”

Thankfully, Irsay was ultimately found in time to save him on both occasions.

Previous Colts Statement on Irsay

The Indianapolis Colts announced last Tuesday (Jan. 9) that team owner Jim Irsay was receiving treatment for a severe respiratory illness. The 64-year-old was scheduled to play a show with his band, the Jim Irsay Band, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Jan. 11, but he had to miss the event, according to the team.

The Colts announced that news last week in a statement explaining the situation:

“Jim Irsay is currently being treated for a severe respiratory illness. While this unfortunately means he won’t be able to perform with his band this week in Los Angeles, he is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible. We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.”

The youngest NFL team owner in league history at 37, Irsay inherited ownership of the Colts from his late father, Robert Irsay. The Colts have since won 10 division titles, made the playoffs 18 times, appeared in two Super Bowls and won Super Bowl XLI under his guide.
