Three-time Pro Bowler and former First Team All-Pro cornerback Jamal Adams is reuniting with former head coach Pete Carroll and signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday.

Adams spent last season with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions, where he recorded just three tackles in five combined games.

The Lewisville, TX native was selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets following a stellar career at LSU. In 36 career games played for the Tigers, Adams recorded 209 tackles, 18 TFL, two sacks, five interceptions and two forced fumbles. He received numerous honors in college, including a First Team All-American selection (2016), All-SEC honors in 2015 and 2016 and Freshman All-America/Freshman All-SEC honors in 2014.

Adams’ prime years came during his three-year stint with the New York Jets, which lasted 2017 to 2019. In that span, the cornerback was named First Team All-Pro in 2019, Second Team All-Pro in 2018, and was named to the Pro Bowl in both 2018 and 2019. His stellar play however didn’t result in much team success, as the Jets went a combined 16-32.

Adams has played in just 15 games since 2022 season

Prior to the 2020 season, Adams was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a monster package, consisting of first and third round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and a first round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He looked the part in 2020 as he was named a Second Team All-Pro and received his third Pro Bowl selection, but he never quite reached these heights once again.

He recorded 87 tackles and two interceptions in 12 games in 2021, but has been bit by the injury bug in a big way since then. Since the beginning of the 2022 season, Adams has played in just 15 games with three different franchises. He was released by the Seahawks following the 2024 season and split time with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions last season.

Now, Adams looks to be headed back towards a reunion with former Seahawk head coach Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders. Schultz reported that Adams is “in excellent shape and the healthiest he’s been in years,” so maybe a change of scenery will be great for the former Tiger, who looks to get back to that level of play in the league.
