Report: Marcus Morris arrested on charges of fraud

Marcus Morris was reportedly arrested on Sunday on a charge of fraud, according to TMZ Sports. He was taken into custody in Broward County, Florida earlier today.
Law enforcement did release his mugshot following his booking. However, TMZ did not receive any further information regarding the arrest of Morris.
Marcus is one half of the Morris twins alongside his identical brother in Markieff. They’ve followed each other’s career paths from high school and college to the pros and, most recently, in media.
Morris spent 13 seasons playing in the NBA from 2011 to 2024 with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He’d finish his career in the association averaging 12.0 points (43.5% FG, 37.7% 3PT on 1.6 makes), 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. That’s after being a first-round, lottery pick at No. 14 overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Morris became that first-rounder following a three-year career at Kansas. He posted 12.6 points (55.5% FG, 35.8% 3PT), 6.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game for the Jayhawks from 2009 to 2011 as a two-time selection as All Big-12. That included his final season as a junior where Morris put up 17.2 points (57% FG, 34.2% 3PT), 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 rebounds, earning honors to the All Big-12 First Team and as a Consensus Second Team All-American in 2011.
Since the end of their playing careers, both Marcus and Markieff Morris had begun media careers on television. They had recently been guests on the morning programming at ESPN with appearances on both of ‘Get Up’ and ‘First Take’.
Not much else is currently known about Morris’ arrest down in Florida or what the charge of fraud would be related too. Still, more information will come regarding this legal issue for the NBA veteran recently turned part-time media personality at the Worldwide Leader.
