According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Mark Sanchez is “done” at Fox Sports. Sanchez was recently hospitalized and arrested after an incident that resulted in the former NFL quarterback being stabbed. Multiple charges against Sanchez ultimately led to Fox moving on.

“Mark Sanchez officially done at Fox Sports, a Fox Sports spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic,” Marchand said via X.

Sanchez announced his retirement from the NFL in the summer of 2019, immediately getting into the media world. He initially worked at ESPN with college football as his main focus. However, a shift over to Fox came in 2021. They placed him in the broadcast booth to be a color analyst, usually pairing him with play-by-play commentator Adam Amin.

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network,” Fox said in a statement to TMZ. “There will be no further comment at this time.”

Fox already appears to have a replacement for Sanchez as well. Drew Brees is joining the company, essentially taking Sanchez’s spot. Brees is expected to begin working for Fox right away, but is not currently scheduled to appear during a Week 10 matchup.

More on stabbing incident involving Mark Sanchez

Sanchez was in Indianapolis getting ready to call an NFL game for FOX when the incident took place. In what was supposed to be a simple food delivery transaction, the moment turned violent between Sanchez and 69-year-old Peter Tole.

Getting stabbed four times meant Sanchez was taken to the hospital, only to be arrested later. He provided a statement on the matter back in mid-October when entering Marion County jail.

“Right now I am just kind of focused on my recovery and I just want to thank the first responders, Eskenazi Hospital, Marion County Sheriff, and the Indianapolis Police Department, Metro PD,” Sanchez said, according to FOX 59’s Angela Ganote. “But I’m focused on my recovery, and I just want to see my wife, I want to see my son, my two baby girls. (There will) be a day to answer all these questions, and unfortunately today is not that day.”

When asked if he had any words for his victim, Peter Tole, Sanchez deflected and instead thanked his surgeon: “I guess the real thing here is I just want to thank Dr. (Lindsey) Mossler, the surgeon, she saved my life. So I’m grateful for that.”
