Following Ross Chastain’s Coca-Cola 600 win tonight, a fan attempted to steal a hat from his car as he made his way to Victory Lane. As Trackhouse Racing team owner Justin Marks congratulated Chastain, the NASCAR fan forced his way to the window.

Ross Chastain was trying to enjoy his win with his team owner. Then a wild NASCAR fan had to get in the way of that. It won’t rain too much on Chastain’s parade, though.

The scene was caught by Steven Taranto of CBS Sports as he waited on pit road after the race. You can see the fan in question. Taranto reports that security stepped in and removed the fan from the area.

Taranto reports that Chastain yelled at the fan. “Give me that f*cking hat back,” Chastain apparently said before security stepped in. We will potentially get more answers later tonight when Chastain takes to the media room at Charlotte and answers questions from reporters.

Weird fan controversy aside, Ross Chastain was fantastic. His team was up until 2:30 AM ET getting the No. 1 backup car put together. They had to be up at 5:30 AM ET to get the car to the track and ready for race day.

Many of the team members on this No. 1 team had three hours or less of sleep. Yet, they come out on top in the late hours of the night in Charlotte. Trackhouse Racing was called out by Ross himself weeks ago for lacking speed. This week, they responded.

He was the best in practice before his wreck on Saturday. The backup was just as fast at the end of the race, and they stole the win from William Byron.

And how about the Prime Video coverage? Pre-race and post-race coverage has been fantastic. We are going to have a lot of fun this next month with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and friends.

Ross Chastain passes William Byron late to win Coca-Cola 600

When everyone thought that William Byron was going to run away with the win, Ross Chastain said, “Not so fast.” At least, that’s what he said with his driving. It felt like we were watching that 2022-2023 Chastain, the one who lived on the edge of control.

Byron and Denny Hamlin gave us a hell of a battle. Then Hamlin was out of fuel due to a fuel can issue. A slide job from Chastain gave him the lead with 6 laps to go, and from there, he ran away from Byron. After playing defense for almost 200 laps tonight, Byron couldn’t hold Chastain off any longer.

Of course, credit to Joey Logano and Hamlin, who were lapped cars being passed by Byron and Chastain. If they were not racing so hard for position, then this race may have gone to Byron. Instead, it set Chastain up for a big move and he was able to make it stick.

To get that first Crown Jewel win is massive for Ross Chastain. He continues to win for this Trackhouse Racing program. He has won at least one race each season since 2022. Tonight was his sixth career win. Could this be the turning point for Trackhouse and this No. 1 team to go on another run to the Championship 4?
