Following his flip on the racetrack, security was called to Zane Smith’s No. 38 hauler in the infield at Kansas Speedway. It is unclear why security was needed at the hauler at this time, but NASCAR made the decision to get bodies over to the area.

Zane Smith has been released from the care center. He appears to be alright. His No. 38 Ford flipped on its side after contact from John Hunter Nemechek. From there, multiple cars wrecked with Smith taking the worst of the hits.

This race is coming down to double overtime. An extended red flag had to be issued for damage to he track from Smith’s wreck.

Zane Smith was having a pretty solid day today on the track. He had faded later in the race, and that’s where he got into trouble. The wreck was massive and shows that these flips can happen anywhere. When those tires grab the wall like that, it can get scary. Thankfully, Smith appears to be doing just fine.

This race is going to come down to an overtime restart, maybe more than that. We are going to have to wait and see how this race finishes out. Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell are going up against each other and will not be easing up.

Zane Smith gets into violent wreck during Kansas race

This was shaping up to be one of the better races for Zane Smith. Then he was on his side and just inches from the pavement. Since his run at Bristol, P3 in that race, Smith has struggled in the last two weeks.

The 38 team was definitely less than happy about how things went down with Nemechek. Any team is going to react negatively in that situation. It did not look great on the replay and likely was a wreck that could have been avoided.

Smith has only had one top-10 since Atlanta-2 this season. It has not been the most ideal year for this team or for Front Row Motorsports. None of the three drivers have really made a big impact on the Cup Series as a whole in 2025. The lawsuit has also loomed over the FRM organization all year long.

The NASCAR Playoffs race in Kansas is coming to an end. After the finish, we are likely going to have another driver lock into the Round of 8. It’s going to come down to a matter of inches and fractions of a second.
