Report: Ravens, Kyle Hamilton agree to four-year, $100.4 million extension

The Baltimore Ravens and safety Kyle Hamilton have agreed to a four-year, $100.4 million contract extension, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. He will become the highest-paid safety in the NFL.
Kyle Hamilton’s new contract keeps him in Baltimore through the 2030 season. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta announced the extension while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.
“We started really kind of engaging with Kyle and his group just before we broke on vacation,” DeCosta said. “I would say that talks started to heat up about three weeks ago. Appreciate the dialogue that we had with those guys.
“I think the deal really speaks to how we feel about Kyle, the highest-paid safety in the NFL. That’s a responsibility that we don’t take lightly. We’ve had a few players over the years become the highest-paid at their position. I think when you are the highest-paid, that’s an important distinction. I think Kyle has proven that he’s going to carry that very well, and we expect him to continue to be an impact player on our defense.”

Kyle Hamilton ‘prepares as good as anybody’
Hamilton is entering his fourth NFL season after the Ravens selected him in the first round (No. 14) overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. In his three NFL seasons, the former Notre Dame All-American has been selected to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro Team twice. Last year, Hamilton played in all 17 regular-season games and recorded 107 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and nine passes defended.
Before the contract extension, the Ravens picked up Hamilton’s fifth-year option in April, which kept him under contract through the 2026 season. Chuck Pagano, the Ravens’ secondary coach, compared Hamilton’s mental abilities to Ravens legend Ed Reed.
“They pick up the defense so fast. They’re out there, and they’re not thinking about our calls. They’re not thinking about our scheme,” Pagano said, per BaltimoreRavens.com. “He’s one step ahead. … Behind the scenes, Kyle prepares as good as anybody. He watches a ton of film, so he’s got almost every play kind of whittled down to one or two plays in every situation, so [it] gives him a chance to make plays.”.
